We're the mom-and-pop of senior living—the local, small business alternative to corporate institutions.

Virginia and Peter Ludder started Ludder's Country Homes eighteen years ago by caring for Virginia's father. People in the community took notice. "You're taking such great care of your dad. Could our mom stay with you for a week?" The business grew from there, but the founding principle remains. We care for our residents the same way we'd care for our parents.

We have two homes located minutes apart in West Sand Lake, NY (20 minutes east of Albany). Each home has a maximum occupancy of six. Private rooms. All meals, cooked from scratch. Our staff-to-resident ratio is typically 3:6. It's the way senior living should be.

In March 2021, the AARP Public Policy Institute issued a report: Adult Family Care—A Viable Alternative to Nursing Homes. It looks at homes like ours, but from a national perspective. You can view the report here.

We've had ZERO cases of COVID in the homes and were fully staffed throughout the pandemic. 100% of our residents and staff are fully vaccinated. We’ve instituted strict prevention protocols, but never at the expense of our resident's social needs and mental health.
